Behind the Scenes: Why We're Building Our Own Production OS

Behind the Scenes: Why We're Building Our Own Production OS

We've been chasing sunrises and wrapping late-night shoots in Puerto Rico for over a decade now. From run-and-gun commercials on the beach in Rincón to multi-unit documentaries across the island and mainland gigs, one thing has stayed constant: the daily grind of tools that don't quite talk to each other.

You know the drill.

- Script breakdown in one app.

- Budget buried in a desktop program (or worse, Excel hell).

- Call sheets emailed at 2 a.m. because the last version got lost in the thread, and you have to drive to the office because the previous version was saved on the desktop.

- Releases signed on paper, scanned, then misplaced.

- Petty cash envelopes that somehow multiply.

- And don't get me started on juggling state tax incentives when a shoot jumps from Puerto Rico (40% resident magic) to Georgia or New York.

We've lived it. We've cursed it. We've wasted hours (and money) fixing it on every job.

A couple years back, we decided enough was enough. Instead of patching together another stack of subscriptions, we started building something better—something that actually fits how producers really work.

That's where Inteprods LLC comes in. Founded by the same team here at CereProds, Inteprods is our software sister company focused on solving these exact headaches. The result? Clarice — a single, cloud-based Production Intelligence Platform designed from the trenches of real shoots.

Clarice isn't some generic SaaS dream. It's born from our own chaos:

- Bilingual call sheets (EN/ES/Both) that auto-pull weather, sunrise, and crew calls.

- Budgets with deep Puerto Rico tax-credit logic (and flexible templates for every US state/territory).

- Digital releases, deal memos, and petty cash envelopes with receipt uploads—all with proper workflows and signatures.

- Script breakdowns that flow straight into scheduling and inventory tracking.

- One dashboard for everything, so no more "Where's the latest file?"

We're not just talking about it—we're running our current projects on Clarice every day. It's already saving our line producers sanity and cutting admin time we used to lose to version control nightmares.

Over the next few weeks, we'll share more here in the Diary: real examples from our shoots, quick wins we've seen, and how Clarice handles the stuff other tools drop the ball on.

If you're a producer tired of the multi-tool madness, keep an eye out. Clarice is getting ready to open up, and we'll have early access for friends of CereProds.

In the meantime, hit reply or DM us if you want to chat about your biggest production pain points—we're always down to commiserate (and maybe solve a few).

Let's make the next shoot smoother.
