Found myself killing some time in the Gulou area a few weeks back and had the pleasure of checking out Chengdu outfit The Hormones with the one and only Foukographer at Temple – a tag team if I ever saw one. The female-led dance punk outfit were on tour promoting their EP Elephant, and gotta say, they were quite impressive. Girls got chops.
It certainly helps that the band is entirely made up of women, fresh into adulthood, which adds a certain innocence and vulnerability to the dark wave that creeps into their music.
